Seemed like a perfect time to catch up on a bigger vertical, heading back to 2009 through to 2023.

Owned by Tristan Le Lous since 2022, this 75ha Margaux estate is one of the powerhouses of the appellation - 1855 classified, brilliant value, with new cellars that were designed around the existing buildings on the 220-acre estate, and built entirely from raw earth and natural, untreated materials from the surrounding Aquitaine region.

A Bordeaux pastry shop among the best in the world? It is done. Mi Cielo, delicate and warm shop established in Bouscat since 2016, has just received the award “Best Pastry to Explore” by La Liste 2025, a global reference for gastronomy.

This Wednesday, June 18, in the gardens of the Governor of the Disabled in Paris, Blanca and Diego received their prize in the eyes of figures such as Pierre Hermé, Nina Métayer or Amaury Guichon.

Mi Cielo is now part of a rare circle: 11 establishments in the world awarded in this category - alongside patisseries from Japan, Spain, Slovakia, and a few exceptional houses in France.

Incredibly, it has now been almost four years since launching Jane Anson Inside Bordeaux in September 2021.

I can’t thank you enough for your support – helping to build a community that has won the IWSC 2023 Wine Communicator Trophy, and a 2025 V d’Or in Best Education and Knowledge Sharing for the non-profit Bordeaux Mentor Week – the mentorship programme that I founded with Chinedu Rita-Rosa in 2022 and that has brought over 30 young wine professionals to the region from countries including India, Nigeria, South Africa, Kenya and Mexico.
