Stéphane Bern on Eleanor of Aquitaine
You may know Stéphane Bern from his amazing Secrets d'Histoire series in France, or his many appearances on tv and radio (he has also picked up an OBE in the UK, Ordre des Arts et des Lettres in France and Ordre de Grimaldi in Monaco). He takes us through Eleonor's early life, her marriage to Louis VII and their eventual divorce, her remarriage to the man who would become Henry II of England. We discuss her impact on Bordeaux wine, and her powerful final years as Queen Mother. He clears up a number of myths along the way, and explains why he calls Eleanor the Rebel Queen of the Middle Ages.
