Château Saint-Pierre St Julien 1855 4ième Cru 2001
Ruby colour, still firm and full of life, kicking things off with ecualyptus and tobacco aromatics. This is a little less generous than the 2000. Dominated by undergrowth, soy, tobacco and charcoal notes, with blackberry and cassis fruits, gentle but building in power through the palate. This has a core of saline minerality, at the beginning of its tertiary phase but not yet fully relaxed. 55% new oak, Eric Boissenot consultant, 55hl/h yield.
