Château Malartic Lagravière Pessac Léognan Cru Classé de Graves Château Malartic Lagravière Blanc 2018
A wine that I have tasted several times over the summer, the last time during a recent vertical at the property. It’s at such a lovely moment to drink, showing the rich concentration of the vintage in its juicy white peach, mango and apricot pit notes, combined with the slate texture that keeps things focused. Likely to age a little faster than some other white vintages of Malartic, simply because of the heat of the summer, but this has energy, fragrant white flower notes, and is delicious. From 7ha of white vines, with an average age of 32 years, and at a 32hl/h yield in 2018. Harvest September 10 to 24. Michel Rolland and Eric Boissenot consultants. 55% new oak but of varying sizes, and a mix of Bordeaux and Burgundy barrels.
