Bordeaux: the Central Médoc Terroir

Gravel terraces of St-Julien, Pauillac & St-Estèphe

A beautiful large-format map of the châteaux and terroir of Bordeaux’s Central Médoc, giclée printed on fine art paper.

These three famous communes lie at the heart of the Médoc. Research commissioned for Inside Bordeaux allows our map to plot what lies beneath 37 Classed Growth châteaux, plus dozens of Crus Bourgeois. It reveals the pattern of the gravel subsoil ‘terraces’ that lie below the vineyards, seamed with the little rivulets and canals that drain the land into the Gironde. The contours clearly show how the vineyards gently rise from the low-lying riverside plain. At first glance an unassuming landscape – but this is the land of Châteaux Latour, Lafite, Mouton Rothschild… perfect for their Left-Bank, Cabernet Sauvignon-based, wines.

These unframed maps are giclée printed on Hahnemühle Bamboo paper.
