Best Wine Lists Worldwide… for Château Giscours

To coincide with our nine decade vertical of Château Giscours, we have tracked down, in partnership with Wine Services, the key Michelin-starred restaurants worldwide that are showing serious love for this Margaux 1855 3rd Growth…

We hope it’s not only useful for those of you who follow our wine reviews, but also to shine a light on restaurants and sommeliers with excellent Bordeaux lists, and to help wine lovers make informed choices of where to eat (or to plan weekend breaks around…).

Ekrin, France
If you are a fan of Château Giscours, Ekrin, located in luxury chalet hotel Le Kaila hotel in Méribel in the Savoie region of France, is a must-visit. They have over eleven vintages of the wine on their list, including the 2005, the 1995 and the excellent 2001.  

7132 Silver, Switzerland
Exceptional two-star Michelin restaurant 7132 Silver in the town of Vals, Grisson canton, up in the mountains of Switzerland with natural hot springs nearby. They have six vintages of Château Giscours on the list, right back to the 1990 vintage.

Bodendorf’s, Germany
One star Michelin within Hotel Landhaus Stricker owned by Holger Bodendorf, located on Sylt island, Germany’s most northerly island in the Frisian chain off the coast of the Netherlands, Denmark and Germany in the North Sea. They have nine different vintages of Giscours on the list here, heading back as far as the 2004 (an excellent vintage that is perfectly ready for drinking now on my recent vertical).

Da Caino, Italy
Located in the gorgeous hilltop village of Montemerano in the Meremma region, so plenty of local wine estates to explore also, including the Albada’s Tuscan estate Caiarossa. The two star Michelin De Caino from chef Valeria Piccini has four vintages of Château Giscours on the list, all relatively recent, back to 2015. There are also three bedrooms for staying over after eating.

Osier, Japan 
Wonderful three-star Michelin restaurant in Ginzo Tokyo, Osier has three vintages of Château Giscours on the menu, including the exceptional 2010.

Spruce, California, USA
The one-star Michin Spruce, a brilliant restaurant that works with a private organic farm in the Woodside,  San Mateo County, but is located in the Lower Pacific Heights district of San Francisco near Presidio Park has three vintages of Giscours on the list, all mature and ready to drink, including the excellent 2010 and 2000.

The Village Pub, California, USA
Another great option in the Bay Area, The Village Pub (Michelin one-star for 12 consecutive years) located in the gorgeous village of Woodside itself also has three vintages of Giscours on its list.

Michelin-starred restaurants with one or two vintages of Giscours on the list:
Hostellerie Saint-Nicolas, Belgium
Two star Michelin restaurant and six-bedroom Hotel Nicolas by the city of Ypres, Hostellerie Saint-Nicolas has the 2016 vintage of Giscours on the menu.

Le Saint-James, Bordeaux, France
You’ll find plenty of restaurants in Bordeaux with Château Giscours on the menu. The one star Michelin Le Saint-James in Bouliac, up in the hills just outside of the city centre, has two key vintages on its list, 2015 and 2017 – the first needs a long carafe, the second is better for drinking now.

Chez Bruno, Côte d’Azur, France
This one star Michelin Restaurant Bruno in Lorgues near Fréjus has the 2015 and 2016 vintage on its list. There are also bedrooms for staying over after eating.

Seven Park Place, London, UK
One star Michelin at St James’ Hotel and Club with chef William Drabble, Seven Park Place has two Giscours vintages, both great choices, the 2015 and 1996 vintag.
