Connoisseur Week 2023, June 13-18
Seats are now open for the Connoisseur Week in June 2023, the second edition of an annual week that is the most sought-after and talked about wine experience in Bordeaux.
The week will take place from June 13th-18th 2023, and will include five nights in private chateau accommodations and four days of wine experiences.
Limited to 10 guests, this experience is being offered exclusively to subscribers of janeanson.com. It is aimed at lovers and collectors of Bordeaux’s finest wines who wish to deepen their relationship with the region and understanding of the terroir and viticultural practices that makes Bordeaux the world’s premier wine region.

Highlights
Guests will be visiting some of the very best estates and all visits will not only be guided by Sarah Kemp and Jane Anson, but by the key people at each property.
Included in The Connoisseur Week 2023 will be visits, tastings and lunches or dinners at the following estates:
- Château Mouton Rothschild
- Château Cheval Blanc
- Château Figeac
- Château Léoville Barton
- Château Troplong Mondot
- Château Smith Haut Lafitte
- Château Lafleur-Pétrus with Christian Moueix
- Château Beauséjour Duffau-Lagarosse
- Opening supper of exceptional mature vintage First Growths
- Plus several other surprise experiences and exceptional properties
Accommodations
Château le Thil, an estate in Pessac-Léognan owned by the Cathiard family of Château Smith Haut Lafitte, will be privatised for the group’s exclusive use for the first two nights.
The last three nights the group will be hosted at the magnificent accommodations at Château Troplong Mondot in Saint-Émilion.
Your Hosts
Your hosts throughout the week will be Jane Anson and Sarah Kemp.
Jane is the founder of janeanson.com, a site that she launched in October 2021 after leaving Decanter magazine, where she was longtime Bordeaux correspondent. Recipient of the IWSC 2023 Wine Communicator Trophy, Jane is author of Inside Bordeaux (called the ‘Bordeaux bible’ by Le Figaro), Wine Revolution, The Club of Nine, Angélus and Bordeaux Legends, a history of the 1855 First Growth Wines.
She has won many awards for her writing, is a graduate of the DUAD tasting diploma with the Bordeaux Institute of Oenology, an accredited wine teacher at the Bordeaux Ecole du Vin and co-founder of the Bordeaux Mentor Week (inaugural edition held in September 2022) aimed at opening up diversity and access in the world of wine.
Sarah is recognised as one of the top experts in the wine industry, and a Bordeaux specialist. She was publisher and managing director of Decanter magazine for over a quarter of a century, leading the re-shaping of the company for the modern media age. She founded Decanter and DecanterChina websites, the Decanter World Wine Awards, the Decanter Fine Wine Encounter and the Decanter Shanghai Fine Wine Encounter.
Sarah also presented the US TV series New American Cuisine and was nominated for a James Beard Award. More recently, she is the founder of The Wine Conversation podcast.
