Château Belair St Emilion Grand Cru Premier Grand Cru Classé B 1970
Mellow seems to be the best way to describe this 1970 Belair, with the tannins melted into the structure, and fragrant tobacco leaf, cold ash and undergrowth rippling through the barely-there autumnal fruits. One of the best 1970s that I have tried – there are a few that are still going strong, but not many, and this is one to look out for. Helyett Dubois-Challon owner, a few years before Pascal Delbeck arrived as winemaker.
