Château Clarke Bordeaux Blanc Le Merle Blanc de Château Clarke 2022

Cold ash, white flowers, good grip and climb through the palate, kick of bitter smoked almond on the finish. This needs time to unroll in the glass, and has plenty of character, good weight through the palate and juicy white pear. A success in the challenging 2022 vintage, in Clarke’s new cellars. Le Merle Blanc was originally produced at Château Clarke in 1898, revived in recent years under Baron Edmond (the merle or blackbird, by the way, is thought to be the origin of the name Merlot). 35% new oak, harvest August 30 to September 6, grown on 4ha clay limestone soils.
