Château de Fargues Sauternes 2017
Pure indulgence with this delicious Sauternes. From an estate has belonged to the Lur Saluces family since 1472, but was only bottled at the property from 1943 onwards. This particular vintage was one of Alexandre de Lur Saluces favourites, because he loved the freshness and zing that provided such a contrast to the luxurious sweetness. As he passed away, I wanted to include this in homage to one of the towering figures of 20th century Bordeaux, and a man who knew that a bottle of Sauternes should grace everybody’s table at times of celebration. 45% new oak, gorgeous slightly served chilled, with white peach, pink grapefruit, citrus and lime zest, all wrapped up in a luscious texture. Second year for Fargues to be incuded in my whites of the year roundup.
