Château de Fargues Sauternes 2020

Such a brilliant wine, full of sweet apricot and nectarine fruit, bitter almond, lime and citrus juice. The lusciously silky texture that makes these wines so singular is clear, beautifully balanced by fresh acidities, and as I found En Primeur, it is incredible that they were able to achieve this with a tiny 3hl/ha yield (chosen for this wine from 6hl/h brought in from the vines). Harvest october 19-22, with unusually long ageing – although as with much of Sauternes shorter than it once was.
