Château Giscours Margaux 1855 3ième Cru 1964
Far deeper in colour than the 1935, slight rose tawny around the edges of the glass, but the centre is very much holding on strong. In the glass, opens with tobacco, undergrowth, embers, cold smoke and walnut, less fruit than the 1935, although you do find blackcurrant notes, and it is extremely finessed, with plenty of length. This was a hot and dry year, with rain during harvest, and would have been high Cabernet Sauvignon in the blend, and no doubt extremely tannic in its youth. Enjoyable, less finesse than the 1935.
