Château Giscours Margaux 1855 3ième Cru 1975

Impressively poised, soft strawberry, gentle floral notes curl out of the glass on opening. This was the founding year of Decanter magazine meaning I have tasted quite a few wines from this vintage at various anniversary parties, and the Giscours stands up well. It’s tertiary of course, but has charm, and maintains momentum through the palate. A heavily tannic vintage when young, where almost everyone wrote them off because they took so long to come round, but every now and then you find one that has survived. Tari family owners.
