Château Guadet St Emilion Grand Cru Grand Cru Classé 2019
From a tiny plot of grapes that is just by the roundabout in the centre of St Emilion (and just a few minutes walk from the chateau on the main street), this is firm but floral. Delicate in construction with plenty of grip and character to the loganberry and raspberry fruits, studded with saffron and fennel. Owned by Vincent Lignac, with Stephane Derenoncourt as consultant, this is aged in 10hl oak casks. Organic for 10 years, biodynamic since 2015, declassified in 2006 but reinstated in 2012, and has been making consistently enjoyable wines over recent vintages.
