Château La Fleur Pétrus Pomerol 1988
The vines that made this wine came from the original footprint of La Fleur-Pétrus, a little different from the vineyard makeup today, but still largely from the high-quality Pomerol plateau. Even at 36 years old, it is still showing the gourmet signature of the appellation, with a touch of smoked creme caramel alongside raspberry and spiced plum fruit, with caressing tannins. Fully in its drinking window, with tertiary character, curls of tobacco and campfire, thoroughly charming. Owned by the Moueix family since 1950, Jean-Claude Berrouet winemaker at this point, as he had been since the 1970s.
