Château La Fleur Pourret St Emilion Grand Cru 2021
Leads with peony and white pepper on the attack, followed by raspberry and redcurrant fruits, good lift, a touch of austerity, less density than you will find in Figeac, great drinking over medium term. Historically part of the Figeac estate, bought in 2002 by the Manoncourt family from AXA Millésimes, part of the vines went into Petit-Figeac as of 2006 once the classification committee agreed to it. 4.5ha on clay-limestone soils so more typical St Emilion than Figeac, 30% new oak for ageing, the rest in one year old barrels. Fermented in half cement, half stainless steel, with the winery (separate to Figeac) due to be completely redone in 2024, moving to fuly stainless steel. Not sold En Primeur.
