Château la Gurgue Margaux 2020
One of the highest proportions of Petit Verdot in Margaux, and it comes across with the deeply spiced and grilled green pepper notes, as well as the inky plum colour. Things starts well, with chalky tannins, rose petals, savoury cassis fruits, slight dip through the mid palate, a little short but showing charm and character. Claire Villars-Lurton is the 3rd generation female owner, certified organic since 2016, biodynamic since 2019. 60% barrel ageing, 20% new oak, 40% cement eggs, with a 16hl/ha yield in 2020 after difficult weather during flowering.
