Château La Serre Saint Emilion Grand Cru Grand Cru Classé 2012
This took its time but in the past few years the 2012 has really come into its own and is showing beautifully. It was a later harvest than the 2011, stretching into early October (although speeded up as rain arrived). Hugely seductive on the nose, with black cherries, blackberries, touches of hawthorn that give an unfussy quality, shot through with cinammon and black olive, and again the saline kick on the finish that is such a signature of limestone-dominant wines. A little soft on the finish, but great for enjoyable drinking right now. 30hl/H yield.
