Château Lafite Rothschild Pauillac Anseillan 2018
Structurally this is Pauillac but well tamed, with pencil lead and sweet crushed blackberry. Supple but muscular tannins, fully ripe fruits, with black pepper spice on the finish. It has the slim architecture of Lafite, helped by the fact that although there is a higher level of Merlot in the blend, they are planted to north facing slopes. Plenty of generosity through the mid plate, and it’s extremely easy to polish off. Harvest 14 September to 4 October. 3.6ph. 100% one year old barrels, made by the estate’s onsite cooperage, and previously used to make Lafite Rothschild.
