Château Latour Pauillac 1855 1er Cru 2021
This is not an exuberant Latour but it is nuanced, complex, detailed and deft, with careful extraction that builds a gorgeous tannic weight and heft through the palate. Rose bud, blueberry, raspberry, loganberry, pencil lead, mint leaf, sandalwood and liqourice bud are all present, and we are firmly in signature Pauillac with the subdued but confident frame that offers decades of drinking ahead. The kind of vintage where this exceptional terroir stands out, but they are happy to work with its character rather than cover it up. There is concentration here, and great finesse. Just 23hl/h yield after sorting. No chaptilisation.
