Complex and nuanced, violets, rosebuds and rose petals. This is elegant, balanced and savoury, with cassis and bilberry fruits given texture and depth by smoky touches of liquorice and espresso. Plenty of tannins that close in on the finish and suggest a long life ahead. Good quality, classic young Margaux. Ludovic David has been director for 11 years and is delivering increasingly consistent success for owners the Sénéclauze family (the longest-running family owners of a classified estate in the Margaux appellation). 52hl/ha yield, with vinification and ageing taking place in a mix steel, cement eggs and oak.
