Château Monregard la Croix Pomerol 2022
Bitter black chocolate and espresso on the attack, this has impact and character, with spice and black cherry fruit – this is a vintage where even 100% Merlot wines – and even at 45 years old, as these are – take on an unmissable intensity and black fruit character. Harvest September 8 (around 10 days earlier than last year), from a plot next to sibling Clos du Clocher but on a lower part of the plateau that is a little cooler than the rest, something that worked in its favour in 2022, but don’t expect anything less than high impact, even with a flash of heat. Natural yeasts, careful crop control throughout the season from pruning onwards, 38hl/h yield.
