Château Montrose St Estèphe 1855 2ième Cru 2013
This is enjoyable, and as you find in most instances in 2013, the gap between the main estate wine and its 2nd label is wide. Enjoyably supple texture to the tannins, and there is a charming unrolling of woodsmoke, liqourice and crayon across the blackberry and raspberry fruits. Harvest September 26 to October 16. 70% of the blend in the 1st wine. 30hl/h yield (with Merlot down particularly low). Managing director Hervé Berland. No chaptilisation at Montrose except for two small plots of Merlot, the first to be picked.
