Château Nenin Pomerol 2019

A brilliant vintage at Nenin, it displays so much nuance and complexity from the first moment. Fleshy powerful damson and raspberry fruits come barreling out of the glass at you, restrained by pencil lead and crushed rock minerality. Hard not to love this. In the cellar, they cut the extraction time down by half compared to 2018, because the skins were so thick, and yet still you get so much natural concentration, without sacrificing a feeling of lightness and juice. 40% new oak, 3.59ph. An upscore from my recent In Bottle tasting. It’s not unusual for different aspects of a wine’s personality to come out during a vertical –  but what is certain is that this is one to look out for.
