Château Rochebelle St Emilion Grand Cru Grand Cru Classé 2006
The tannins are still firm and slightly chalky at 15 years old, with tight blackcurrant, blueberry and blackberry fruits and a gourmet twist of liqourice root. There is less of the natural grace that you find in the 2005 but this is still a beautiful wine, where the saline character on the finish is pronounced. The texture is striking – you feel slate minerality almost sticking your tongue to the side of your mouth. 70% new oak.
