Château Rochebelle St Emilion Grand Cru Grand Cru Classé 2015
The graphite that was clear in the 2014 vintage is also found here, along with chalky tannins that are relatively austere compared to many 2015s. A creamy texure arrives after a moments in the glass, as does black cherry and damson fruit. This is a terroir that likes to surprise, to take its time and then to over-deliver. A lovely example of what limestone can bring – nothing excessive, but so much pleasure and precision. One to look out for. 70% new oak.
