Plenty of punch on the first nose, showing confident depth of flavour, with cocoa bean, cassis and silky sweet damson fruits, with edges of smoked earth. Can drink now but this will age, and even will shut down for a few years due to the firm tannic architecture, rare at this price level. Shows better balance than many of the more expensive wines in the vintage because there is juice here – a true value wine to look out for. 38hl/h yield, Dominique Guignard owner and winemaker, with brothers Bruno and Pascal.
