Château Saint-Pierre St Julien 1855 4ième Cru 2004
Knitted together, restrained, overlaid with cocoa bean, cigar box, smoked earth. Similar in feel to the 2002 as is often the case with these two vintages, but here more packed with blackberry and bilberry fruits with marked eucalyptus notes and a hum of fresh acidities. Plenty of life ahead, with St Julien balance. 60% new oak.
