Clos Manou Médoc 2021
Always a little nerve-racking to restate something you have given a particularly high score to En Primeur in a vintage like this. Certainly it hasn’t escaped the traces of the 2021 vintage, but it is extremely well made, with bite and chewiness to the tannins, and plenty of dark fruits, edged with raspberry and tomato leaf. There is a silky quality to the texture, and a mouthwatering finish. A seriously reliable choice in 2021, impressive from winemaker Stéphane Dief. Harvest September 29 to October 16. 60% new oak, with the rest in the mix of amhora and concrete eggs. Unfined, and only lightly filtered. 52% of overall production in this wine. Hand harvested. One to look out for.
