Domaines Barons de Rothschild Champagne Champagne Rare Collection Rosé 2012
Delicate redcurrant, citrus, bitter almond. Keeps the emphasis on savoury herbs and minerality rather than fruit, which is a bonus for me, making it a mouthwatering, delicate, if subdued, gourmet rosé. From vineyards in Vezernay and Vertuis, minimum three years storage on lattes. Cold maceration just 3-5 days to extract colour and flavour fresh fruits. 3,000 bottles and 400 magnums. 4g/l dosage. Tasted twice. It really is a Blanc de Blancs with a touch of added Pinot Noir, keepng the emphasis on Chardonnay that is the house style (the NV rosé is made the same way).
