Henschke Eden Valley Hill of Grace 2018
Visiting this estate was something I had wanted to do for years, and it total lived up to expectations. For the wine of the year list, I was torn between choosing this or Mount Edelstone in the same vintage, as both were wonderful and different expressions of Shiraz on this unusual site. Deep spiced plum, sculpted, fragrant, just the most beautiful character to this wine, with dried crushed rose petals, five spice, white truffle and blueberry that expands outwards through the palate, soft violets spiral upwards, persistent yet delicate.
