Xanadu Margaret River Cabernet Sauvignon 2022
There’s fruit sourced from several of Margaret River’s subregions for this wine. Elegant aromas lift from the glass in the form of bay leaf, graphite, blackcurrant, mulberry, potpouri, camphor, saline nori, gravel and plum. A glimmer of forest cake. It’s demure, though not to a fault, more in a restrained and poised way. The palate is fresh and juicy in its fruit with blackcurrant juice, dark cherry, fine cedar, camphor, and pencil lead with a cooling mineral lift through its centre. Fine chalky graphite tannins hold sway, providing a lithe frame on which it cascades through the mouth to a fresh and fine finish. An elegant and lifted Cabernet, more about freshness than immense power.
