Château Angludet Margaux 2019
A wine that has taken on a more serious side over ageing. Still ripe and supple, and now in bottle offers a brilliance slice of polished but nuanced Margaux, with damson, raspberry and blueberry fruits set against raspberry leaf and violet floral character, and a more gourmet edge of bitter chocolate and brioche. Great stuff from Benjamin Sichel, 6th generation of the family in Bordeaux, and an upscore from En Primeur (which leaves me wondering if the 50% amphoras emphasised an austerity in the early months of the wine). 30% new oak. In biodynamic conversion.
