Château La Croizille St Emilion Grand Cru 2019

Heavy on the oak, this is tarry, smoky, just about matching the black cherry and damson fruits. The 100% new oak is a little more evident after ageing than it was En Primeur, but nothing is bitter here and it is going to soften with another few years in bottle. Owned by the de Schepper family since 1996 but sprung to greater public consciousness with the brightly coloured new cellars in 2013.
