La Croix de Montlabert St Emilion Grand Cru 2022
Castel is careful to work its wines to be approached a little younger than some of its neighbours, here translating into supple tannins combined with width through the mid palate, a touch of bitterness on the finish that heads towards dried fruits (less marked than in some other 2022s), smoked almonds, grilled oak, pomegranate, a little rustic but has real charm. 90% St Christophe de Bardes and 10% around the château on the sandier parts that are not classified. Ageing in 14% stainless steel with staves and the rest oak barrels.
