1% for the Planet Update: 2022 charity revealed
As the end of the year approaches, we get to choose which charity we will work with for the remaining funds of the first year of our 1% for the Planet donation (the funds have partly gone direct to 1% for the Planet, for them to distribute, and partly to this specific charity of our choice). This 2022 donation represents 1% of the turnover from subscription revenue throughout 2021 (meaning October to December 2021, as this was our first few months in operation – next year it will be for the full 12 months of 2022).
The charity we have selected is Wings of the Ocean – a brilliant local charity that focuses on cleaning up the oceans and rivers around the Atlantic Ocean and Arcachon Bay, as well as along the shores, dunes, and various rivers and lakes around Bordeaux and the Gironde region. They have been in action since 2018, and have two large boats that they use to clean up out in the ocean as well as localised initiatives.
This means something particularly to us at janeanson.com because we have been regularly clearing up the beaches in Arcachon and Cap Ferret since late 2019.
This time next year we will be distributing our 2022 funds, meaning 1% of all subscription revenue (turnover not profit), and we’d love you to get involved. Any subscribers can suggest environmental charities that they particularly believe in, and if you are interested in getting involved in beach cleanups around Bordeaux, either through Wings of the Ocean or directly with us, please let us know.
We could arrange a special subscriber cleanup day in 2023, with a wine tasting at the end to celebrate!! Just email us at hello@janeanson.com to get the conversation going…
